Scent of Clay by enmi Scent of Clay by enmi
My first attempt at sculpture work. I've felt inspired lately to try it out. I went and bought really cheap wet clay. The sort you use in schools. It was a struggle but it was really nice to feel that familiar smell from childhood while trying to create a face like the ones I usually paint.

I'll do more of these, try to learn as I go. It's a whole new creative medium for me and I love it.

Now this is a first effort? It's amazing. When I saw it in the thumbnail I thought it was a painting! Also it's so similar to what you usually draw, it's great you can show your style also this way. :)

Yeah this was my first experiment. I haven't sculptured anything since I was about 13 years old and back then I failed so miserably I didn't even want to try it again, until now :) It's really fun to create in three dimensions instead of just two.

Wow, awesome job! As someone who's terrified of sculpting, this is super amazing and has a ton of atmosphere.

I tried sculpting when I was 14 and failed miserably. I haven't tried since then since I was certain I was a hopeless case. I'm glad I tried again, don't be afraaaaid! *sends fearless vibes*

Seeing this piece has certainly given me hope! c:

I think I will try again. Thank you!

You should be proud of this sculpture, though, and please continue to do more in the future! You have real talent!

And I JUST got a rad idea for you. Sculpt a face, take some high res pictures, digitally paint over them as a base! >83

The good thing about this kind of clay is that it's great for a rough, earthy look and if you play with it, you can figure out how to make some wonderful looking creases and wrinkles. :3

A very great first time, by the way. Love it. ♥♥♥
