"A titillating, neurotic, peroxide punk of a pale ale. Combining attitude, style, substance and a little bit of low self esteem for good measure; what would your mother say? You really should just leave it alone..."
- Trashy Blonde (Brew Dog beer bottle description)
So while on vacation my family decided I should learn to drink beer. I did and today I got this random bottle of beer called Trashy Blonde. It had such an awesome descriptive text on the back of it and I had to draw the character I imagined from it. I did it while listening to swedish punk band Asta Kask and now I've got a headache, but still.
Brewdog to the best bottle descriptions - but I think the one for Punk IPA is even better;
"This is an aggressive beer.
We don't care if you don't like it. … You probably don't have the taste or sophistication to appreciate the depth, character, and quality of this premium craft-brewed beer. … Just go back to drinking your mass-marketed, bland, cheaply-made, watered-down lager, and close the door behind you"
Haha, gawd! The bottles in Sweden have a different text I think. Still awesome but not as "fuck-you-in-the-face"-badass as this version. I drink their beer because of their awesome way of marketing. Deserves some respect to be that cool and punk :3
I do love their attitude. They've been in trouble in the UK for producing a number of insanely strong beers (which I would love to try, but they're expensive and hard to get your hands on), like Tactical Nuclear Penguin, at 32% ABV, and Sink the Bismarck at 41% - followed by a super-weak beer (1.1%) called Nanny State, as a two-fingered salute to their critics.
Last year they caused a stink when they revealed they had been screwed out of a major award, because (faceless global conglomerate) Diageo told the awarding body they would withdraw sponsorship if Brewdog won.
Of course, all of their marketing would just look like embarrassing juvenile posturing if their beers weren't so damn tasty - but, oh man, they're so good…
They ARE good and lookign at their website you can tell that they really put love and effort into their products. I'm not usually a big fan of beer but hell, I make a huge exception for them :3 So punk!
(btw, their "Punk IPA" is even better. Best beer evaaaaaar)
